This study investigated some of the attitudes of hearing impaired children and their parents to the use of brightly coloured post aural hearing aids.

Questionnaires were sent to families whose children attend either mainstream school, hearing impaired units or other special schools.

Results indicated an overwhelming desire among the children for the coloured aids with the parents being only marginally less in favour. Concern, however, was expressed, especially by parents, about the possible reaction of peers and the wider society to the obviousness of the aids.
